Circulatory System

A Circulatory System transports blood throughout the body.

The organs are the veins, the arteries, and the heart.  The heart's tissues are the right atrium, the left atrium, the two valves, the right ventricle, and the left ventricle.

The Digestive System interacts with the Circulatory System by giving it nutrients.

The Respiratory System gives the system oxygen.

Atherosclerosis is the major cause of heart diseases.  It happens when a blood vessel becomes blocked which can make a heart attack happen.

Hypertension is abnormally high blood pressure.  It makes a greater risk that you will have a heart attack, heart failure, kidney disease, and a stroke.

A stroke is when a blood vessel in the brain becomes clogged or ruptures.  That part of the brain receives no oxygen and brain cells die.

A heart attack happens when heart muscle cells die and part of the heart muscle and part of the heart muscle is damaged.  The heart may stop.

Heart failure happens when the heart cannot pump enough blood to meet the body's needs.  Organs may be damaged.
